Baseball Extends Win Streak to 10 games, Looks to Claim Regular Season Title this Saturday

Varsity baseball might be one of the hottest teams in the state. Last weekend, the team took down Division 1 Birmingham Seaholm 10-2 and 5-3 in a non-conference doubleheader. The team resumed CHSL conference play on Tuesday, traveling to Cranbrook Kingswood. In the rivalry match-up, the Gryphons got down late, a rare occurrence this season. Trailing 5-9 after 5 innings, Greenhills rallied with sixth runs in the sixth inning followed by a ten-run seventh inning. Senior Jeremiah Bowman’s grand slam home run was the icing on the cake that completed the comeback. The Gryphons took care of business in game 2, winning 4-2. The pair of wins extended their win streak to 10 games and moved Greenhills to 7-1 in conference play, good for first place. Greenhills hosts second place Royal Oak Shrine on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 2pm. Games will be played at Concordia University. A win in either game will give Greenhills its first regular season CHSL title since 2019 and secure the top seed for the upcoming CHSL conference tournament.

Soccer Travels to Rival FGR in Crucial CHSL Matchup

At 3-1-1, the varsity soccer team stands in second place in the CHSL standings with two crucial games in the next week. Today, Thursday, the Gryphons travel up Earhart Dr. to take on rival FGR. A win could mean three crucial points in their quest for a CHSL regular season title. In first place is Royal Oak Shrine at 5-0-1. Shrine will travel to Greenhills next Tuesday, 5/6, in what could be a pivotal game in the CHSL AA standings.

Tennis Wins Back-To-Back CHSL Matchups

The top-ranked Greenhills tennis team continued its dominant season with a pair of CHSL victories this week on back-to-back days. On Tuesday, the team traveled to Mercy High School, defeating the Marlins 7-2. On Wednesday, Greenhills traveled to rival Cranbrook Kingswood and, again, put on a dominant display, defeating the Cranes 8-0. With the pair of victories, Greenhills has put itself in an excellent position heading into next Saturday’s CHSL Championships. In preparation, the team will travel this weekend to division 1 power Utica Eisenhower and early next weekend will host Grosse Pointe North.
