Soccer Takes Down #1 Ranked Royal Oak Shrine

On Tuesday, varsity girls soccer welcomed Royal Oak Shrine, the top ranked team in division 4, in a game that would decide the regular season title. The visiting Knights entered the game in first place with a record of 5-0-1 while the Gryphons sat at 5-1-1. The winner of the game would claim not only the regular season crown, but also the top-seed in the upcoming CHSL conference championship tournament. After the teams battled to a tight 1-1 half, the Gryphons overwhelmed the Knights in the second half. Sophomore Cate Alumkal scored what would be the game winning goal 5 minutes into the second half. Alumkal added a third goal, completing the hat trick, and Greenhills comfortably held on, securing a 3-1 victory. Watch highlights here. Greenhills will now advance to the CHSL semi finals on Tuesday, May 13.

Greenhills held on for a tight 6-5 victory in game two to complete the sweep and finish the conference regular season at 9-1.
